Much discussion and dialogue over the last few years, especially over the last year has taken place in my life about church...specifically about the "conservative" vs. "progressive" philosophy of opertions, ministry, lifestyles etc...this topic could definately exhaust my typers...so I hope to give just a few thoughts...
We gather in our local fellowship of believers to edify one another, not to provide a certain environment for unbelievers...church is for believers...that is why many of the "seeker friendly" philosophies fall short of accomplishing God's design for us gathering...on the other hand believers have done a pretty bad job of living "seeker friendly" lifestyles and have used church as a way to compensate for that lacking...
It is easy to get frustrated at certain administrations, procedures, structures, that we have tried to work gathering together into...but we must remember, it is not those things that bring or keep us together, it is the unity that comes from God's Word and the Holy Spirit...
If you are in a place where the Word of God is exalted and taught...then the Holy Spirit is ready to work thru your local body...
In america little is accomplished because the reds battle the blues...likewise in our churches little is being accomplished because of internal battles that are eating precious time and energy...
Unless you are a head pastor you probably cannot change the direction of your church, so take what God has given you: the Church, Word and the Spirit and make the most of it...
Later from iworld...
