about 2 years ago i read the world is flat by thomas l. friedman...great book...it is basically about how much technology has changed this world...and more specifically how it has changed communication and made a big world seem smaller...anyway...i have always been fascinated by the theory of 6 degrees of separation:
if you are not familiar with this go read more about it...the theory is that you are connected to everyone in the world by 6 people...someone who knows someone who knows someone etc...fascinating...at least to me...
speaking of communication and connections...i always look on facebook to see how many "friends" someone might have...i have discovered how un-popular i am...i see people like fs and cup-cake baker with scores of "friends"...but just today did i see something that was truly amazing...mrs. coacher has 540+ "friends"...that is more people that would attend my funeral if people were payed $100 to come...perhaps some day i'll break 50...anyway...i mention facebook because if you look at friends of friends you will be amazed at the connections...anyway...blah blah blah

well, you see, the only reason i'm a teacher is so that i will have lots of friends. this is how it works:
1 - i know a lot of kids, and they seem to think i'm kind of cool (or really dorky) or they want to get some dirt on me, so they ask to become my facebook friend.
2 - i make a TON of money, so i pay people to be my friends on facebook.
and that, my friends, is how i have so many facebook friends. in real life i'd say i know about 2 people that actually like me.
