wolves among sheep

"a wolf in sheep's clothing" is a commonly used phrase or figure of speech...this phrase like many others that we use in English were made popular by the king james bible...these phrases became popular because the kjv was the most read and sold book for 400 years in english...this phrase comes from Matthew 7:

Matthew 7:15: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

these "false prophets" are later referred to as "apostates" in the new testament...so, if Jesus said they would come, then where are they?

these are people who come into the sheepfold intentionally trying to hurt sheep...sheep referring to followers of Christ...christians...the way they hurt the sheep is by leading them away from the Shepherd by false teaching...

we are not told how many will come...or, how often...we simply know they will come...

i have seen some that teach outright obvious doctrinal errors that sound good to the simple people who are easily tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine...sometimes it is more subtle...for instance: a man might take a job on staff at a church...get a following of simple people and leave to start a church...usually leaving in opposition to important doctrinal issues such as style of worship, progressive methods, etc...

protect your fellowship of believers like a shepherd would protect his sheep...

later from 3rd St.
