many of you who read this attended sams b-day bash...by the way...natalie, nice work...great party!!!...anyway...when speaking to carl, sams step-dad i was trying to remember a country that i shipped one of his books to...it was on the tip of my tongue...and i forgot...i guess it was a combination of not wanting him to think i was a complete moron and hating that i forgot a country that i had a conversation about while looking it up on wikipedia...so i scrambled to find the info and after 30 minutes couldnt...well kids...it was...
Brunei Darussalem...(north of malaysia)
anyway...this week mrs rider watched the bookstore for a few hours...when i returned i saw a large box of oranges inside the door...so i asked her about it...she told me an old farmer came in to sell oranges...okay whatever...history lesson...my wife has NEVER told a kid that comes to the door selling something NO...never...nunca...never...she cant do it...anyway...so i was pretty happy because i just found a signed first edition of an alan paton book in a thrift store for 25 cents...but for some odd reason i asked her how much they were...she said $25...i new immediatley that she was not joking...this old farmer persuaded mrs rider to pay 3 times the going rate for some oranges...here is a direct quote, "i felt sorry for him. he was an old farmer. he showed me checks that people had written for $25. he told me it was a good deal."...
so after a heavy dose of my usual encouraging sarcasm, i figured we could make some killer fresh juice...her mom is here and has a great knack for making fresh juice...and that she did...all 3 cups full...it was great...all 3 cups full...i mean really good fresh juice...all 3 cups full...
$25 for 3 cups of OJ...
moral of the story...at least this is what i took from it...i have been asked numerous times...too many in fact...it does get old...anyway..."why did she marry you" or "how did you pull that off" some people even get real creative and clever with comments...so here is the deal...old farmer...me...she just couldnt say no...
later from buck run...

ray, the post i was talking about at the party was "You Can't Handle The Truth". so funny.
i'm glad, for your sake, you figured out the country you were trying to think of. clearly, i understand that type of frustration.
yeap, I have no excuse, but it was a delicious juice and we got a lot more than 3 cups!
