anyway...those of you that have known me awhile remember my old friend chuck...chuck taylor...we spent 8 good years together...everyday we went everywhere together...sometimes chuck wore white...sometimes he wore blue...but whichever...he looked great...we became close friends my freshman year of high school and did not part ways until a few years ago...the recent surge of chucks popularity pulled us apart...
this is the deal...i accepted chuck for who he was...i befriended him at a time when no one else would...he was at his low point in life...at one point he could only be found at montgomery wards...sneaker stores would scoff at the mention of his name...we were solemates...pun intended!...
i would buy two pair of white low tops a year...and one navy low pair top a year...total $75 + tax...now with the recent renewal of popularity...$40-50 a pair...chucks daddy would be rollin over in his grave if he knew about this...you may ask...why would i abandon chuck because of his recent popularity...i guess it is like the nerdy friend of the kid who all the sudden becomes "cool" in the teenybopper movies...its just not the same...
but on our trip to NYC admin sported a pair...and i was jealous...jealous of what might have been...i once again longed for that precious relationship...so this week i bought myself a early christmass present...
by the way...i am appalled at what some jack-legs have done to chuck...all these squirrelly colors and designs...shame on you...i hope you get fired...and i thought cherry red was wild!...
moral of the story...because other people are friends with chuck doesn't mean that I can't be...i am his best friend anyway!
